Installing ACE

Installing ACE

These instructions are only for installing ACE version 3.7.x.x. If you are installing a previous version (3.6.x.x), see: Installing ACE (v3.6.x).

  1. Download the latest ACE Editor software installation from https://redigate.elecsyscorp.com/software
The downloaded file will be an  AceEditorInstaller_3.7.x.x.zip  file with the latest version.

  2. Extract the   .msix   installer from the Zip file to a temporary location.

You can validate its checksum before installation, if you wish. See the ACE Editor version history for the expected checksum: ACE Revision History

  3. Run the  .msix  installer by double-clicking on it, or right-click on the file and choose "Install."

  4. The ACE Editor should launch immediately after installation, or you may run it from the Start menu by clicking the "ACE Editor" link.
Whenever ACE Editor is opened, it will install the following files, if they don't already exist:
    * Program icons and TeraTerm application into a private user application directory (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Elecsys\ACE).
    * DefaultTemplate.xml file into the current Working Folder (configuration directory, such as  Documents\ACE).

To install the program icons when prompted, select Icons or Icons.zip, and click Open.
OldIcons.zip is a set of older icons used by legacy customers.
(Source install directory for the icons is, for example:  C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Elecsys.AceEditor_3.7.0.0_neutral__0f0wh98x8ek8m\ConfigEditor).

  5. The ACE Editor will open to a blank screen. Now you are ready to open, create, or modify your XML configuration files.

Troubleshooting Missing Folder

In the ACE Editor version 3.7.x.x, there has occasionally been observed a problem during installation, where a program data folder isn't created correctly due to a bug in the Windows app data handling. One way this problem is manifested is that the File | Connect to Device option will fail with an error running Tera Term ("ttermpro.exe System Error – The code execution cannot proceed because ttpcmn.dll was not found.").

If you experience this error, close the ACE program and open a Windows Command Prompt window. Enter the following two commands. Then run ACE again, and it should be okay.

rmdir /Q /S C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Packages\Elecsys.AceEditor_0f0wh98x8ek8m\LocalCache\Local\Elecsys\ACE

mkdir C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Elecsys\ACE
